Akasha inches slowly towards the books, ensuring with every small step to be as quiet as possible. After what seems like hours she locks eyes with Blackbird McAllister. A silent message passes from her eyes to his drowned in urgency and intention.
"Go!" Akasha whispers to herself and takes of running toward the table. She closes the short distance in a matter of seconds. Throwing three of the books in her bag she whirls and springs for the open floor grate.
As she takes her first step she hears Blackbird grabbing the remaining books. "Well we haven't screwed up yet," she thinks as she swiftly approaches the opening.

Blackbird McAllister places each of his hands firmly on the tomes. Gripping tightly he spins away from the table much quicker than his approach. Moving back behind the cover of a wall of books and scrolls, Blackbird feels safe.
Already, he can see Akasha descending through the open floor, into the relative safety of the darkness below. What awaits the adventures there is hard to tell. But it has to be better than these foul creatures.
Blackbird gathers his courage, and wraps his arms about the two books. He turns to bolt the final distance between himself and the hole. Immediately, his face is engulfed by the foul breath of a Hoarse Hound. The silent killers trained as guard dogs - and hunting hounds - by the King's dark guards.
