"Go!" Akasha whispers to herself and takes of running toward the table. She closes the short distance in a matter of seconds. Throwing three of the books in her bag she whirls and springs for the open floor grate.
As she takes her first step she hears Blackbird grabbing the remaining books. "Well we haven't screwed up yet," she thinks as she swiftly approaches the opening.
Already, he can see Akasha descending through the open floor, into the relative safety of the darkness below. What awaits the adventures there is hard to tell. But it has to be better than these foul creatures.
Blackbird gathers his courage, and wraps his arms about the two books. He turns to bolt the final distance between himself and the hole. Immediately, his face is engulfed by the foul breath of a Hoarse Hound. The silent killers trained as guard dogs - and hunting hounds - by the King's dark guards.
The cavernous chamber is dark except for a small bonfire. The hallways of this chamber are formed by books and tomes. The floor is solid stone. A large metal mesh grate rests on the floor next to an opening carved in the stone.
Several large wooden tables dominate the room, and five thick tomes are stacked upon one of the tables. Flames from a bonfire dance in the air and cast odd shadows on the walls. Books, scrolls, and tomes on all sides.
Four figures rummage through the towering stacks of historical works. A Hoarse Hound emerges from the darkness and has found the adventurers.
North: Sink into the darkness of the cavernous chamber.
Down: Jump into darkness, and muck, to escape through sewer tunnels.
