Learn By Example - Read a Sample Turn!
The game is played simply enough - a scene is explained by the Game Master, with all relevant clues being placed into the content of the message.
The Player has the opportunity to react in any way they wish - using their imaginations, intellect, or sheer brawn to force the next scene to occur. The Game Master receives the Player Reaction and folds the details into the next scene, which begins Turn 2. Both the Game Master and the Player should rely on the Mythic RPG system to aid in task resolution, resolving scenes, combat, and elements of randomness. Play continues this way for as long as a Player wishes to remain in the course of the Adventure! Game Master - Turn 1
TO: Player
FROM: Game Master SUBJECT: Introduction to "Realms of Adventures" BODY: (Scene Description) You and the other adventurers find yourselves on the balcony of a large tavern in the center of a bustling city. (Scene Items) A few battered tables and chairs are set about the balcony, empty tankards of ale, and empty plates are scattered about. There is a banner announcing the tavern name flapping in the breeze, hanging from the roofline. To one side of the room the tavern keeper has stored his locked chest of personal possessions. (Scene NPCS) The bar maid is here cleaning up the empty tankards of ale, and tossing stale breadcrumbs over the edge of the balcony to poor beggars below. She's been known to take an adventurer or two around the back of the tavern for a private drink at a price. And she gossips about all the stories of bravery, conquest, treasure, and foes passing adventurers tell. She's filled with goodies! (Exits) To the North: You could visit the Merchant District to the north. To the South: You decide to wander into the Rat Infested Sewers at the south end of the city. To the East: You head to the docks on the East side of town. To the West: You leave the city through the main gates at the West side of town. Player Reaction - Turn 1
This is the time in which the Player has a chance to react to the scene.
The Player can pick locks, talk to NPCs, engage monsters in battle, cast spells, perform skills, and anything else the Player might imagine! The Player will rely on the Mythic RPG system to aid in task resolution, resolving scenes, combat, and elements of randomness. By using the Fate Chart and Resolution Tables the Player may determine there is more to the original description than the GM presented... and the Player would submit that information if it follows Logic and Interpretation in the scene. The Player can also proceed with the scene in an attempt to resolve any threads that are open at the time. TO: Game Master
FROM: Player SUBJECT: RE: Introduction to "Realms of Adventure" BODY: (Scene Description) You and the other adventurers find yourselves on the balcony of a large tavern in the center of a bustling city. Jack Sprat ignores the locked chest, having no KNOWLEDGE of how to pick a lock. Jack Sprat tips the bar maid with a sizable gratuity of 5 GP (Jack Sprat now has 7 GP remaining) to which she leads him to the darkened corners of the tavern for some passionate necking. During their interlude the bar maid hints at a den of nasty goblins hiding in the forest to the West of the city. She says they've been terrorizing the local farms, and stealing from traveling merchants on the King's Highway. (Exits) To the North: You could visit the Merchant District to the north. To the South: You decide to wander into the Rat Infested Sewers at the south end of the city. To the East: You head to the docks on the East side of town. To the West: You leave the city through the main gates at the West side of town. Jack Sprat decides to head WEST into the forest without delay! Game Master - Summary Turn 1 - Begin Turn 2
